Story
By Sarah Johnston
Every now and again I discover a charity that really tugs at my heart strings and Bears Without Borders had that effect on me recently. It was set up by two graduate students at Harvard and MIT who just wanted to spread a little joy to deprived children around the world. Every penny raised goes towards sending teddy bears to kids here in the US and also Cambodia, El Salvador, Indonesia, Peru, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe. Imagine the wonder experienced by a child who has never had much when he or she receives something of their very own, and not only that, but something that can be loved. Sadly a lot of these children have been orphaned and suffered terribly but these cuddly friends can really make a difference in their lives. It’s a great charity to have kids support as a way of raising their awareness of others who are not so fortunate, especially at this time of year.

It's agood charity as is Coats for Kids. I quite often would rather give something needed than something just fun, but just fun is needed too. -

Phil & I discovered the miracles of Teddy Bears when he started being Santa's Helper. Thank-You for the info & for the work you do.

Stumble It!
I was adopted at age 3 which was a traumatic age for something like that to happen.( I was aware of something being very wrong, but unable to articulate or understand) My first and always comfort was crayons. When Hurricane Andrew hit my area of South Florida, my way of helping was not clothes neccesities. I went out and got boxes and boxes of crayons and tons of coloring books. I divied em up into large zip lock bags and distributed them to the children who were displaced like I had been, in hopes that coloring would take away their pain for awhile, and make their world a bit safer. To this day, at age 56, coloring with my Grandchildren always brings me that sense of peace. One never knows how a child can be affected by something so basic and simple, for years to come. Thanks for reminding me that sometimes keeping it simple is the absolute best! suzan
